Academic Support

If you need a computer for classes, DukeLIFE lets eligible students borrow a MacBook or PC for the semester.

ASCEND (Achieving Success through Community, Engagement, and Networking at Duke) is a summer program for incoming first-year students that offers workshops, mentorship, and opportunities to build academic confidence and community before classes start.

Look out for the ASCEND Coach application in the spring!

Incoming students can sign up to participate in ASCEND over the summer!

Each semester, eligible DukeLIFE students can request support to cover required course materials (textbooks, courseware, lab books) for one class.

Financial Support

This fund provides one-time financial support to help cover urgent, unexpected expenses such as emergency medical bills or emergency travel related to a life-threatening situation.

Professional Support

(Resources for Internship Success and Empowerment) offers summer stipends to help cover housing, meals, and transportation so that DukeLIFE students can take on unpaid or low-paid internships with reduced financial burden.

SHINE (Skill Building, Habits, Initiative, Networking, Exploration) is a professional development series of workshops tailored for LIFE students. By taking at least three sessions in an academic year, students unlock special program invitations.

Social Support

Incoming LIFE students are paired with upperclassmen mentors who share experience, offer guidance, and help with both academic and social transitions.

Incoming students can sign up for mentors over the summer!

Upperclassmen can sign up to be mentors starting in May!

DukeLIFE hosts regular events (retreats, socials, panels) to create community, foster connection, and highlight resources. Join the club!
