The mission of DukeLIFE is to enhance the academic experiences of undergraduates from first-generation and lower-income backgrounds.
Our programming and initiatives provide students with holistic support to promote their full participation in the university’s intellectual communities. The office also fosters socio-economic inclusion at Duke by coordinating resources with campus partners. As a result of our work, LIFE students are well-positioned to
- Build meaningful relationships with faculty
- Successfully navigate Duke’s intellectual and social networks
- Use campus resources that support their journeys
DukeLIFE supports students from the broad spectrum of identities that intersect with race and class, including ethnicity, national origin, religion, linguistic background, gender, sexuality, neurodivergence, and physical ability. DukeLIFE is actively committed to being actively anti-racist and dismantling white supremacy and systemic racism in all aspects of our work. To contribute to the success of the LIFE community, we cultivate an environment that affirms the value of all people.
