LIFE Loaner Laptop Program
DukeLIFE endeavors to make educational technology available to all students, despite the cost. Therefore, we maintain a stock of MacBook Pro and Dell laptops available as long-term (multi-year) loans to eligible students to use during their time at Duke. Requests are accepted on a rolling basis and will be approved for eligible students while supplies last.
Who is eligible to apply?
DukeLIFE undergraduates actively enrolled in Trinity or Pratt who have demonstrated high financial need as indicated in their need-based financial aid records. At the beginning of each academic year, DukeLIFE notified all students who meet the financial eligibility criteria via email.
Check your email for receipt of this communication to confirm your eligibility prior to applying. Students may also write to firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about their eligibility.
Complete and submit the application. Provide all the requested information.
A staff member will contact you to communicate the status of your application and the availability of the requested equipment within two business days. Supplies are limited and we will assist as many students as we can. Financial aid records will be consulted when reviewing applications.
If your application for a loaner laptop has been approved, you will be asked to sign an agreement indicating that you understand that the laptop is the property of Duke University. You agree to return it when asked and you understand that you will assume financial responsibility for its damage or loss while in your care.
A staff member from the Link will reach out to you to schedule a time for you to pick up the requested equipment from the service desk (bottom floor of Perkins Library). Please bring your Duke ID card for equipment check out.
