DukeLIFE Student Organization
The mission of the Duke LIFE student group is to create and provide community space, resources, and advocacy for students on Duke’s campus who identify as first-generation and/or low-income. The organization aims to use the energy and creativity of its members to advocate for a Duke that is more inclusive, comfortable, and welcoming of the first-generation/low-income identity. These goals will be accomplished by hosting events focused on bringing the community together and creating identity development programs and activities relevant to the wants and needs of organization members and all First-Generation and/or Low-income students at Duke.

My name is Alice Carroll and I’m a senior from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I am a Co-President for DukeLIFE this year! I am majoring in Environmental Science with minors in Evolutionary Anthropology and Global Heath. For fun I work in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, enjoy hiking, and love reading.
My Name is Victor Clifton and I am a senior from Henderson, North Carolina. I am Co-President for Duke LIFE this year! I am majoring in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. Aside from Duke Life, I am proudly a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, a part of Duke National Pan Hellenic Council, Black Men’s Union and 100 Collegiate
Vice President of Community Building
My name is Juliana Alfonso-DeSouza and I am a second-year David M. Rubenstein Scholar from San Antonio, Texas. I plan to major in psychology, minor in chemistry, and earn the child and family policy research certificate on the pre-medical track. In addition to my involvement with Duke LIFE, I enjoy being a part of Camp Kesem, the Duke Canine Cognition Center, Duke Presidential Ambassadors, and a biochemistry research lab at Duke.

My name is Stephany Perez-Sanchez and I am a sophomore from Lancaster, SC majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Chemistry and Global Health. I will be serving as the Vice President of Low-Income Engagement. Outside of DukeLIFE, I also serve on the executive board of the Cardea Fellows program, volunteer at an outpatient mental health clinic for Latino families called El Futuro and enjoy spending time with friends around campus!

My name is Dawei Gao, and use the he/him pronouns. I am a senior undergraduate from Lawrenceville, GA and I am on this year’s DukeLIFE treasurer. I am majoring in Economics with a minor in Philosophy. Outside of DukeLIFE, I also serve on the Duke Questbridge student organization.
Secretary
My name is Randi Jennings and I am the secretary for Duke LIFE this year! I am from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and I am majoring in political science with minors in linguistics and education. In addition to being involved with Duke LIFE, I am part of the undergraduate Moot Court board, the Penny Pilgrim George Women’s Leadership Initiative, DSG Judiciary, and more. I look forward to advocating for the LIFE community this year.
