Course Materials Assistance
DukeLIFE has resources to help eligible students access course materials. The program is intended to assist students with urgent needs and does not support materials for a full semester.
Who is eligible to apply?

DukeLIFE undergraduates actively enrolled in Trinity or Pratt who have demonstrated high financial need as indicated in their need-based financial aid records. The DukeLIFE office notifies all students who meet the financial eligibility criteria each academic year via email. Check your email for receipt of this communication to confirm you eligibility prior to applying. Students may also write to dukelife@duke.edu to inquire about their eligibility.

Students may receive assistance with materials for one course during their time at Duke.

We anticipate providing materials worth up to $300.

Requests for digital textbooks, subscriptions to online learning platforms, and other single-user items will be reviewed individually. Please allow extra time for this review.
Ineligible Items (not exhaustive):
Art supplies
Software subscriptions
Clothing
Bags and cases
Laptops, iPads, and other computer peripherals

Please provide all requested information on the application.
If the request is approved, a DukeLIFE staff member will work with you to purchase the item directly. It will be provided to you as a loan for the duration of your enrollment in the course.
